water is added and it is put under pressure.<\/p>\n<p>This will cause the starch in the grain to turn into a gelatinous mass that will be transformed into alcohol during fermentation.<\/p>\n<p>Fermentation should last 40 hours, during which a liquid with an alcohol content of 90% will be obtained, which will contribute to the maximum purity of the vodka once it is distilled.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Distillation\"><\/span>Distillation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Distillation must be carried out in stills. Generally, 2 to 5 stills are used, which heat the beverage at the bottom, causing the alcohol to rise through the tube, leaving the residue at the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>If a quality beverage is desired, this procedure must be repeated several times, so it is usually done 2 times and up to 5 times if you want to produce a high-end distillate.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Filtration\"><\/span>Filtration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Once the distillation has been elaborated, it is filtered to eliminate the impurities produced in the previous process. Heat the potatoes and water to a temperature of 66\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.- Add other ingredients <\/strong> Add 2 pounds of barley or crushed corn and stir the contents of the pot, leaving the mixture to cook for 2 hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.- Let stand <\/strong> Let the mixture sit in the pot overnight, this will allow the barley or corn to break down the starch, but try to keep the temperature at 27\u00b0 C.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fermenting_the_Vodka\"><\/span>Fermenting the Vodka<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Fermentation is a fundamental step in the process of <strong>making vodka<\/strong>, so keep in mind these simple steps to obtain a quality broth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.- Place the mash in a sterilized bucket <\/strong> For every 19 liters of liquid you have, you will need a 28 liter sterilized bucket to contain the mixture while it ferments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.- Add the yeast <\/strong> At this moment you add the yeast to the obtained mixture, and proceed to place the lid on the bucket but without sealing it, because if you do so, it may explode due to the gases generated by the fermentation inside the bucket.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.- Allow to ferment<\/strong> You must leave the mixture to ferment for 2 weeks. To do so, place it in an area where the temperature remains at 27\u00b0 C during the fermentation process.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Distillation-2\"><\/span>Distillation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This is the phase that will allow you to obtain a quality liqueur, so you must pay close attention and follow each of the steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.- Obtaining the clean mixture<\/strong> This phase is important, so you must remove the fermented liquid from the bucket, leaving the yeast, i.e. free of impurities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.- Place in the alembic <\/strong> You must place the liquid in the alembic taking into account that you should not heat it to more than 78\u00b0 C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.- Discard the Methanol<\/strong> By discarding the methanol you will obtain a purer liquid and put it back in the still and let it heat up again.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Filtering\"><\/span>Filtering<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Filtering is important, as it allows us to discard impurities that are naturally formed during the distillation and fermentation process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.- Joining the Vodka<\/strong> You must filter the liquid obtained during the distillation process, this will help to eliminate impurities, for this you can use the organic carbon system.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dissolving\"><\/span>Dissolving<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You are about to finish the process of making homemade vodka, so once the filtering step is finished you must dissolve the liquid obtained until the desired alcohol content is reached, since we must remember that we always have a mixture with a high alcohol content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.- Add water <\/strong> Add purified water to the distilled liquid until the desired percentage of alcohol is obtained.
